SRSH 2010 Conference
13th & 14th November
Dear Group Facilitators,
As you will know, we are running a two day conference for you fully subsidised. We hope that this conference will give you a greater insight into eating disorders, give you some more ideas to help run your groups and give you a chance to meet other group facilitators working on different projects. The conference has the support of many academins and clinicans working in the area and will be a valuable opportunity to expand your understanding.
The conference will run on the 13th and 14th of November in Wadham College, Oxford. The schedule for you will run as follows:
From 10am we will be in Wadham College to welcome you.
Registration for the Saturday conference will open to the general public at 10.50am, so you MUST have arrived before this time. If you know in advance that you will not be able to be in Oxford before 10.50am, please let Hannah know.
The conference will run from 11am to 6pm on the Saturday (please see here for specific details for the Saturday conference)
Following the conference we will be taking you out to supper in Oxford as a group. Some of the day's speakers may also be joining us and we hope this will be a great chance for you to get to know each other!
Unless you have specified otherwise, we will be providing accommodation for you in Oxford; this will be in the traditional university style of "crash" so please make sure you bring a sleeping bag with you as there is about a 99% chance you will be sleeping on someones living room floor. Accommodation has been arranged for you with the help of our Oxford Volunteers.
Sunday, we will be kicking off back in Wadham College at 10am. We will be running two workshops for you on the Sunday.
The first workshop is being run by the Social Enterprise development worker for Student Hubs, a group supporting and promoting student volunteering - Sara Ferndanez will be running a session to help you improve the running of your project and will be happy to answer any questions relating to organisation, publicity, fundraising etc.
The second workshop is being run by two lovely ladies! Caroline Lovejoy, a psychotherapist specialising in eating disorders. Caroline has a careers worth of experience in running group sessions for individuals with eating disorders. Veronica Kamerling runs the London Carers group, supporting parents and carers of individuals with eating disorders. The format for this workshop will be a Q&A session, so please come prepared with questions so that you can get the most out of this session. Veronica and Caroline will do their best to answer any questions relating to managing and running group sessions. If you know in advance that you have a particular question you want answering, please email Hannah to let her know: if we can give Veronica and Caroline a bit of advanced warning, you are likely to get a much better answer!
