Like a Tree. My body is...

Picture
Taking inspiration from a line in Eve Ensler's Play, The Good Body, this project encourages us to think of our bodies in different ways and to think about how we perceive our bodies. It started as a creative poster campaign but one line answers to describe your body are also great.

We have some SRSH post-it notes with the title 'Like a Tree. My body is...' The aim is for people to finish that sentence with one word answers on how they perceive their bodies and post them anywhere you can for people to see! Hopefully people will take interest and will check out our website (which is also on the post-its).

If you want a block of post it notes, email me (admin@srsh.co.uk) or call into the office and pick some up!

You can also follow the link below to read a recent blog on this project and to access the link to an article on Kate Clemmer's poster campaign. http://studentrunselfhelp.weebly.com/4/post/2011/10/like-a-tree-my-body-is.html

Like a tree my body is old,
It stands and it watches and waits in the cold.
Months and years like the breeze blow by
And like a tree I simply stand and sigh.
I’m surrounded by thoughts, ghosts of the past
How long in soil can my body last?
Standing still simply waiting to die
A beautiful picture to the devils eye.
Like a tree my body is old
Withered and gnarled exposed to the cold.
My roots are firmly stuck in the ground
But nourishment is nowhere to be found
Like a tree my body can grow
But if it will as of yet, l don't know.
